Frequently asked questions
Doggy and the City exists to make potty time easier and more convenient for every pet parent. The idea was born when the founders—busy dog lovers themselves—struggled to get home in time each day for their dogs’ walks. Feeling guilty about their pups waiting to go potty, they came up with a simple, practical solution designed to help dog owners everywhere.
DoggieLawn is the ideal choice for:
- Training puppies and teaching good potty habits
- Apartment dwellers without access to a yard
- Working professionals with unpredictable schedules
- Senior dogs dealing with arthritis or incontinence
- Avoiding those late-night walks in the rain, snow, or cold
- Pet parents tired of the odor and upkeep of fake grass
- Homeowners who want a dedicated dog area to keep their main lawn pristine

When your grass dog potty arrives, put on the complimentary disposable gloves included with every order. Unroll the fresh grass onto your tray (whether you’ve purchased one from us or already have your own). Be sure to remove solid waste daily to keep things clean.
When it’s time for your next delivery, just put on the gloves again, roll up the used grass, place it in a trash bag, and toss it away. Then unroll the new patch onto your tray — and just like that, your dog has a brand-new, fresh potty area ready to go!
Yes we do. When you order you will receive a free dog potty box tray.
Trays are designed to collect any excess urine that may pass through the grass over time. When your dog first goes potty, the grass naturally absorbs most of the moisture, so nothing leaks right away. However, as the grass becomes saturated after repeated use, some liquid may begin to seep through the bottom—that’s when the tray becomes useful.
The tray serves as a protective layer to keep your floors or balcony clean and dry.
If you’re placing your dog potty grass outdoors it is best to place it in an area that is covered from rain. The dog potty box is not meant to drain so if it fills up with rain water it will spill out. Its best to cover it if it rains.
Our delivery staff will come to you and do everything for you. We will replace the old grass with the new farm fresh grass and dispose of the old grass. Our driver will lock a 2 hour window when we will arrive. You must be home for the delivery or the dog potty box must be in a location that is accessible for our driver. You can always reach out to us for guidance on choosing the perfect plan for you and your pup. Our team bases recommendations on your dog’s size, age, and how often you expect them to use their dog potty grass.
Puppies
For pups under one year old, we suggest the Standard. Larger puppies may do best with a Large.
Frequency: Because young puppies have smaller bladders and need to relieve themselves more often, we recommend a weekly replacement schedule to ensure the grass stays fresh. Once your puppy matures, you can switch to a biweekly delivery.
Adults
For adult dogs weighing less than 50 lbs, the Large Dog Potty Grass is typically ideal. Bigger breeds may prefer a combination of multiple large dog potty sizes side by side for more space. Frequency: If your dog uses the dog potty grass 1–2 times per day, a biweekly plan should work well. For dogs who use it more frequently—or for multi-dog households—a weekly plan is recommended to maintain freshness and comfort.
Seniors
For senior dogs under 50 lbs, we suggest the Standard, Medium, or Large DoggieLawn. Larger senior dogs will likely do best with the XL version or multiple smaller lawns placed together.
Frequency: For older dogs who experience incontinence or have limited mobility, we strongly recommend a weekly schedule. As senior dogs may not be able to hold their bladders or go for walks as easily, the DoggieLawn offers a dependable way for them to always have access to clean, real grass for potty breaks.
Dogs naturally prefer doing their business on real grass—it’s familiar, comfortable, and instinctive for them. Most pups take to it right away with little to no training. For the more particular ones, a bit of positive reinforcement works wonders. Simply reward them with a treat the first few times they use their new potty, and they’ll quickly catch on.
As with any new habit, it takes patience, consistency, and time for your dog to fully adjust to their DoggieLawn. That’s why we offer free consultations with our in-house training specialists. If you’d like some personalized guidance, just give us a call—our friendly team is always happy to help!
ou can cancel your subscription at any time. Simply log in to your DoggieLawn account and click the orange “Manage” button next to your subscription. At the bottom right corner of the page, you’ll find the cancellation button. You can also email us at support@doggyandthecity.com with your cancellation request and reason, and we’ll take care of it promptly.
Please note: You’ll be charged for any grass that has already been harvested for your subscription, even if it hasn’t shipped yet. Because our product is living grass, it can only remain fresh for a short period and can’t be stored or reassigned to another order. Harvesting occurs on your subscription processing date, which you can find under My Account > Manage Subscription > Change Next Delivery Date. To avoid being billed for an upcoming shipment, please cancel at least one business day before your next processing date.
If you’ve paid for a shipment that hasn’t yet been sent and you no longer wish to receive it, we’ll do our best to intercept the order and can even reroute it to a friend or family member who might like to try DoggieLawn for their pup!
We’re always happy to answer questions about your billing cycle or cancellation process. And if you do decide to cancel, we’ll be sorry to see you go—but we’d love to hear your feedback and learn how we can earn your business back in the future.
